Practice what you preach
Our actions should always be consistent with what we say. You see so many quotes and passages from people on facebook and/or twitter. And when we look at these quotes i’m sure most of us are amazed by the message that it sends which usually are positive ones. But think about it, do most of these people sending out the message follow these things themselves? Is their actions consistent with their words? I’ve always had a pet peeve for hypocrisy (which exactly happens in these kinds of cases.) I feel that if you can’t be true to yourself how can you be true to others or expect them to follow such a powerful message? If what you do isn’t the same as what you say… you are misleading people. It’s not genuine. Set a good example by your actions first before saying anything. I know that sometimes I post these inspirational quotes too, but I only do that when I know that I follow it myself and/or when I know that my being represents the kind of quote that I put forth. Seeing a genuine person put such an empowering message out there makes the message that much more meaningful. When the wrong person puts it out there, (as important as the message alone is) we don’t take their message too seriously because if they thought such a good thing, why can’t they follow their own message? One of my theories is that they do this to put up a facade, it’s not really who they are but what they’d like people to think they are. I think that we should try to be the person who inspires people with our good actions rather than tell other people how to be through these quotes. The world would be a better place with more honest and genuine people =)
